Wacky Hair Day

Look at all of the creative hairdos in Room 18 today. We are celebrating Walking to School Week with a Wacky Hair Day.

2018 Sunnyhills X-Factor Competition

The Year 5 and 6 students had a show to raise money for Kampung Kids in Jakarta. Mrs Rinkes volunteers at this school. The money we raised will help to feed the children lunch. The categories for the competition were Singing, Dancing and Instrumental. Who would you have chosen and why?

Diwali Performers

On Tuesday afternoon we were entertained by the colourful Indian musicians and dancers who taught us about Diwali.

Dumpling Making

Today we made DUMPLINGS! We also ate them. Inside it had sweet corn and carrots. They were delicious.

To make dumplings you need:
Vegetables - sweet corn and carrots
Dumpling wrappers
A pot to boil them in

Instructions for making dumplings:
1. You get the dumpling wrapper
2. You put a small portion of vegetables in the wrapper
3. You hold the wrapper and fold it in half and squeeze the ends together
4. Put the dumplings in the pot and cook them
5.  It's done.

Native Bird Art

Art Week Work

We have had a lot of enjoyment creating our art work for the Art Exhibition. We looked at the art work of the New Zealand artist Don Binney. We painted backgrounds in bands of colour from light to dark or dark to light with green and blue paint. Next with chalk we drew a native bird of our choice after looking at the style of Don Binney's native birds. Outside we observed native plants to add to our pictures. Finally we painted our art work. Come to the Exhibition to view our beautiful paintings.

Life Education with Pamela

This week we had two sessions in the Life Education Caravan learning about The Circulatory System. Pamela was the teacher. We now know lots more about The Human Body.

Rhythm Interactive Performance

Johnny from Rhythm Interactive taught us seven drumming sequences. We all enjoyed his performance and we appreciated his fun personality.

Caligraphy lesson

Today Vio taught us how to write characters with a calligraphy pen and ink.
